Divorce Transition - Seminars

Having worked with many parents as a Parent Facilitator since the court program started in 2001, I found most parents wanting and needing non-biased information. To address this need, and to help parents avoid and resolve their marital and parenting issues with less conflict, I have designed a one-day seminar.

The name of the seminar is "A Survival Guide for Getting Through the Divorce Transition."

The focus of the seminar is education. Most parents don’t need therapy; they need a roadmap, a strategy and non-biased information about the non-legal aspect of divorce. They need and want to learn how to manage the transition process of divorce.

This seminar is designed to help divorcing parents transition emotionally, intellectually and behaviorally in two ways:

  1. From “Spouse to Ex-Spouse”…so parents can use divorce as a transition not a lifestyle, thus separating marital issues from parenting issues.
  2. From “Marital Parent to Co-Parent”…so parents understand the differences between single parenting, marital parenting and Co-Parenting; and the different and additional priorities, roles, responsibilities, boundaries and guidelines of Co-Parenting after divorce.

The seminar is available throughout the Tampa Bay area (including west Pasco, Pinellas and Hillsborough counties). It is reasonably priced in addition to offering a payment plan and sliding fee scale (in special situations).

The Seminar Goals:

  • Provide an unbiased overview of the divorce transition process
  • Help parents constructively deal with marital divorce issues separately from their ongoing parental responsibilities
  • Offer parents preventive pro-active information and ongoing resources throughout the divorce process
  • Provide information so parents can be "prepared and pro-active" instead of "shocked and re-active"
  • Help parents prevent or reduce a high conflict divorce which can negatively affect their ability to parent
  • Assist parents in making divorce a transition, not a lifestyle
  • Share information about the correlation between the divorce transition and children's well-being
  • Provide adult focused information and resources that are different from the Florida Department of Children and Families, Parent Education and Family Stabilization Courses
